About Heather

Heather will see the light and potential in you. Her empathetic listening and intuition, along with the inspiring and non-judgemental space she creates will help you come back into connection with your own true nature and best self. Her passion lies in walking beside you (virtually, or literally) as you reconnect with what matters to you most. Heather has an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in Transpersonal Wilderness Therapy. Her background in Kinesiology lays the foundation for the body-based, somatic modalities she uses in her practice. Heather loves to bring mindfulness, “here and now” interventions and creative nature healing practices into her work. Heather is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC).

Heather’s Story

For over twenty years, Heather worked as an outdoor guide and environmental educator. Working internationally towards environmental behaviour change was thrilling, but until she discovered wilderness therapy, Heather felt something was missing. This sense led to an overall sense of unease and dissatisfaction – a familiar and uncomfortable feeling not unlike homesickness. Heather turned to nature for grounding, connection, and to regain her sense of perspective. This is the way she learned to “come home” when things got difficult. Heather then integrated her passions into one aligned whole by bringing others into this space of healing, and through her writing on self-compassion, supporting individuality and identity in a world shaped by conformity, and reconnection with nature as non-judgemental healer. Heather now shares this direct experience of healing in nature and the return to connection with self, saying: “This has been the most meaningful and important adventure of my life. I feel overjoyed to now be able to accompany others on their own inner journey of transformation, discovery, and self-love. On both the individual and societal level, what could matter more?” Heather looks forward to walking beside you and witnessing you on your own hero’s journey.

Katie's Story

Having graduated with a master’s degree in Social Work, Katie spent the first 20 years of her career in children’s mental health, and became the clinical director of two different children’s mental health centres in Toronto. She is the co-author of “A Decade of Diversity: Advancing Women’s Careers” and the author of an article for the Vanier Institute for the Family on the impact of caregiving on the workplace.
